Pilgrims axe unwanted trio
21 Dec 2007 - 07:14:47
Plymouth Argyle boss Paul Sturrock has confirmed a trio of players will be leaving the club in the new year.
The newly-installed Pilgrims chief will allow fringe first-teamers Reuben Reid and Cherno Samba, plus injured loanee Larrys Mabiala to exit Home Park.
Mabiala has not made an appearance since joining the club on loan from Paris Saint Germain in the summer.
"I had a word with Samba and he appreciates the situation. At this juncture we have decided to part company," Sturrock told the club's official website.
"I have decided Reuben is a development player and with the scenario of no games - and being out of contract at the end of the season - I felt it was time for him to move on.
"Last but not least is Larrys Mabiala. I had a long think about it and the lad does not feel that he will get a game here, so we have both decided that the best thing for him will be to return to Paris Saint Germain."
Meanwhile, Sturock has confirmed he is looking to bring in some fresh faces during the transfer window.
He added: "I am moving some players on and the board has been receptive to my plans for bringing players in, so the search goes on.
"I have several people I am in conversation with at this minute and I am very hopeful of strengthening in the window."
