Mariner eyes new right-back

Paul Mariner is hoping to add a new right-back to his Plymouth Argyle squad after Karl Duguid suffered an ankle injury in the Pilgrims' 1-0 defeat against West Bromwich Albion.

Mariner is expected to try to bring Manchester United right-back David Gray back to Home Park for a third loan stint with the club.

However, when asked who his target was, Mariner would only say: "I have someone in mind, but I'm not willing to divulge who it is.

"Karl Duguid has been playing fantastic for us. He's a very solid player. He just rolled his ankle, unfortunately, in a big pile of mud.

"We actually got the signal he'd broken it, but it looks as though he hasn't done that. We'll be monitoring him very closely."
