Mariner aiming to swoop

Plymouth Argyle boss Paul Mariner has admitted that he is looking to make a number of moves in the transfer window now the club's transfer embargo has been lifted.

The former Pilgrims striker started the month with his hands tied after unpaid debts led to a transfer embargo being placed on the club.

With that restriction lifted last week, Mariner is keen to test the water in his first transfer window as a manager in the Football League.

"We think we can add to the squad to help them along and get where we want to be," Mariner told BBC South West, although he admitted that it's been far from simple.

"It's not as easy as people think just to get people in and out but we have a list."

Argyle have made some progress with their own players this month, agreeing terms with Kari Arnason on a two-and-a-half year contract and welcoming the return of winger Yannick Bolasie from a loan spell at Barnet.
