MacLean told he can leave

Plymouth Argyle striker Steven MacLean has been told by manager Paul Sturrock he can leave the Home Park club.

The £500,000 record signing from Cardiff City in January 2008 has fallen out of favour and he has failed to make a single Coca-Cola Championship appearance for the Pilgrims this season.

Speaking to reporters, Sturrock said: "Steve and I have come to a decision that he has to move on.

"I think that's the appropriate thing for both of us. We've had a chat and he wants the ideal move, just like any footballer would.

"I've spoken to his agent and I've spoken to Steve.

"I've issued letters out to all football clubs and we'll wait to see."
