Mackie eyed up by rivals

Plymouth Argyle striker Jamie Mackie is being monitored by Championship rivals Derby County.

The 24-year-old is understood to be impressing Rams boss Nigel Clough as he intends to strengthen his squad during the January transfer window.

Mackie has made 14 appearances this term, scoring three goals and one of his best performances came in the Pilgrims' 2-1 loss at Derby earlier in the season.

He was signed by Argyle from Exeter for £145,000 in January 2008.

Speaking to Derby Telegraph, Clough said: "We know about him from his Exeter days when he impressed us.

"He has got pace, which is something we haven't got in the team."
