Johnson seals Argyle switch

Plymouth Argyle have bolstered their ranks with the permanent signing of midfielder Damien Johnson from Birmingham City.

Johnson, 31, has penned a two-and-a-half year deal at Home Park after making just three first-team appearances for the Premier League club this season.

"I've come down here and I want to give it 100 per cent and do well," the Northern Ireland international told his new club's official website.

"I've been frustrated at Birmingham this season and, like any player, I want to play.

"I'm hopefully going to get the opportunity to play down here and I look forward to the opportunity to do well for Plymouth.

"It's a big challenge and the Championship is a tough league. It's a hard league and there is not much in it between the teams.

"Any team is capable of going on a run and, hopefully, Plymouth can go on a run and get themselves just a couple of places higher up the table."
