Drop agony over for Sturrock

Plymouth Argyle manager Paul Sturrock is relieved to have seen his side escape the threat of relegation from the Championship ahead of the final day of the season.

Norwich City's 2-0 defeat at home to reading ensured that the Pilgrims are safe, despite a run of just two wins in their last nine games.

Sturrock told the Evening Herald: "I didn't watch the game. I sat in one room while my wife and a friend were in another one.

"I heard a lot of shouting in the second half, so I could tell Reading had scored.

"My wife came in and told me it was 1-0 and she then returned later on and said it was 2-0 with ten minutes to go.

"I have got the summer to get things sorted out so we are ready for the start of next season. That process will start this morning.

"We live to fight another day and a lot of our young players will have learned a lot from this season."
