Cathcart poised for Argyle stay

Plymouth Argyle boss Paul Sturrock hopes to persuade Manchester United defender Craig Cathcart to extend his loan stay at Home Park.

The Northern Ireland Under-21 international captain is scheduled to return to Old Trafford at the end of this month but Sturrock has opened talks with United boss Sir Alex Ferguson about lengthening the agreement.

Sturrock said: "We've started to have talks with Manchester United about extending his loan and we hope to know more by Thursday."

The 19-year-old has impressed in his 15 appearances for the Pilgrims since arriving at the club in August.
