Barnes rewarded with new deal

Teenage striker Ashley Barnes has signed a two-year contract extension with Plymouth Argyle.

The 19-year-old, who only made his first start for the club in February, will now remain at Home Park until the end of the 2010-11 campaign.

Pilgrims boss Paul Sturrock told the club's official website: "Ashley came in at an important time of the season.

"It was a decision I didn't take lightly because I put a lot of pressure on that boy, and in the last couple of games of the season I think that pressure showed with his performances.

"But I was delighted with how he reacted to it in the first six or seven games. I'm very hopeful that with another year's work on him, he'll get better and better."
