Yoann Folly started playing English football in 2003 when he joined Southampton. Gordon Strachan who was then manager paid Folly's previous team St. Etienne 250,000 pounds for him. He struggled to make it into the first team after a series of managerial changes and due to this he was loaned to Nottingham Forest and Preston North.
