Reid - We didn't deserve anything

Peter Reid admitted his side were second best as the Plymouth lost to a last-gasp goal against fierce Devon rivals Exeter. Daniel Nardiello, on as an 85th-minute substitute, netted a stoppage-time winner to defeat Reid's team, who have now lost two cup games on the bounce. Reid said: "I think it was a good game and now I know what the atmosphere is like for a Devon derby. It was a tremendous atmosphere. "I thought we just got a little bit deep from a defensive point of view and we took a little time to getting used to Harley playing in the hole. "We kept going but you cannot afford to give the ball away in good possession and I can remember us doing that half a dozen times and Exeter were at us and it wasn't difficult, so that was disappointing. The players have worked hard but there just wasn't enough quality where we needed it. "It was a terrific goal from Clarky in the second half but we started off slow, dropped off deep and they have got the ball, set it back and we had no-one shutting it down. He's hit a shot and there's no one in the vicinity and you can't afford that - a free set up and a free shot. "We got back in it and then I thought `yeah come on' because we were on the front foot for a bit but we just weren't good enough. In the end I was getting ready for penalties and I am sure Paul was. We had comfortable possession and we gave it away and got caught by a sucker-punch, which is really disappointing."
