Tactical change for Sheridan

Plymouth boss John Sheridan will change his side's tactical set-up when they welcome Southend to Home Park.

Poor form on home soil was one of the reasons why the Pilgrims' play-off dream faltered last season and Sheridan confirmed he will use a different shape in home and away games from now on, starting with the visit of Phil Brown's men.

Sheridan could also tweak his personnel for the clash with Lee Cox and Tyler Harvey pushing for starts having been relegated to the bench for last Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Bury.

Marvin Morgan and Ben Purrington will also hope to be given the nod having been introduced, along with Cox, in the second half at Gigg Lane.

Southend boss Phil Brown admits he has a number of players champing at the bit to feature on Saturday after sticking with a settled side for their four League Two games and is ready to shuffle his pack slightly.

"Consistency is a big thing and that is going to be key to any success we have, as it was last year," Brown told Blues Player. "But I'm going to make a few changes this week and hopefully that will bring some zest and energy to the team, as well as adding just that little bit of quality we've been lacking in the final third.

"We've created over 70 chances in our last three games, so that shows we are doing well at getting into the final third, but we've only scored three goals in those games so we need to start putting them away."

Brown was reluctant to discuss who may be coming in, but Jack Payne, David Worrall and Gary Deegan are thought to be knocking on the door.
