Reid blow for Argyle

Plymouth have suffered a blow ahead of their clash with Portsmouth with the news that Bristol City have recalled Bobby Reid.

The midfielder has been a crucial cog in the Argyle side that has climbed up the table since his arrival in September but, after an injury to Wes Burns, City decided to recall Reid to Ashton Gate.

Argyle boss John Sheridan will hope Kevin Mellor shakes off the hamstring injury which ruled him out of Wednesday night's Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat at Coventry, their first loss in nine matches, and be able to feature against Pompey.

Lewis Alessandra's return to the starting line-up at the Ricoh means he will line up alongside Reuben Reid once more.

Pompey will be without defender Paul Robinson and midfielder James Dunne.

Millwall loanee Robinson serves a one-match ban after he was sent off during the closing stages of Sunday's 2-2 FA Cup draw against Aldershot, meaning club captain Ben Chorley is likely to step in at centre-half.

Dunne missed that match with a knee injury and has since undergone exploratory surgery so Nigel Atangana is set to keep his place in midfield.

Defenders Danny East (groin) and Adam Webster (knee) remain sidelined along with midfielder Wes Fogden and striker Tom Craddock (both knee).
