Jake Jervis could be available for Plymouth's clash with Northampton

Plymouth top scorer Jake Jervis is ready to boost the Sky Bet League Two leaders ahead of their top-of-the-table clash with Northampton.

Jervis, who has scored 11 goals this season, suffered a groin strain in Plymouth's last game but he could play some part on Tuesday.

Midfielders Hiram Boateng and Graham Carey are nearing returns after respective ankle and knee injuries, while key striker Reuben Reid has stepped up his fitness after being on the bench for the last three games following two months out with a hip problem.

Oscar Threlkeld and Craig Tanner are both available after extending their respective loan spells from Bolton and Reading last week.

James Collins is expected to make his debut for Northampton.

The striker signed last week on loan from Shrewsbury but was cup-tied for Saturday's 2-2 draw with MK Dons.

Ricky Holmes, who scored both goals on Saturday, was bed-ridden on Friday through illness and could only manage an hour in the FA Cup third-round tie, but is expected to retain his place at Plymouth.

Alfie Potter (rib) will be assessed before the trip while manager Chris Wilder has the welcome headache of deciding whether to bring Zander Diamond back into his defence or give Rod McDonald another go after his assured display against Championship opposition at the weekend.
