Plymouth humbled at home in the FA Cup by Carlisle

Carlisle upset League Two leaders Plymouth by knocking them out of the FA Cup first round with a 2-0 win at Home Park.

Argyle - five points clear in League Two - have already beaten Keith Curle's Cumbrians 4-1 in the league, but today was a different story as Anthony Sweeney opened the scoring with an overhead kick on 22 minutes.

Kelvin Mellor was cautioned for his foul on Hallam Hope down the attacking left flank and when the free kick was headed back across goal by Mark Ellis and Michael Raynes, Sweeney was first to react with an acrobatic swipe into the corner.

Carlisle had their tails up and danger man Derek Asamoah sent a shot on the run just over the angle of post and bar before Ellis stooped to head just wide from Danny Grainger's free kick from the left.

It was another warning sign of what was to come as in the 41st minute the Cumbrians doubled their lead as Hope swept home from close range after home keeper Luke McCormick parried Asamoah's goal-bound shot.
