Hatters see off Pilgrims
Luton won 1-0 at Plymouth to inflict a second consecutive home League Two defeat on John Sheridan's faltering Pilgrims.
Adam Drury fired John Still's Hatters into a 22nd-minute lead as Argyle failed to clear their lines following a corner.
Nathan Doyle tried his luck and when the ball was charged down by a defender Drury found the corner of the net with unerring accuracy to beat diving Plymouth goalkeeper Luke McCormick in a packed penalty box.
Plymouth did their best to respond with debutant Birmingham loanee midfielder Olly Lee forcing Luton keeper Mark Tyler to turn his 25-yard free-kick around the post in the 26th minute.
Three minutes later Tyler thwarted central defender Curtis Nelson by saving the Plymouth's skipper's powerful downward header on the goal-line.
Argyle top scorer Reuben Reid shot just wide after latching on to a McCormick clearance and cutting in from the left.
Teenage substitute Tyler Harvey, introduced at half time, went close with a left foot shot as Plymouth pressed for a second half leveller while Reid's pacy 85th-minute delivery across the face of goal cried out for a finishing touch.
