Pilgrims revival rocks Rovers

Stephane Zubar completed a stirring Plymouth fightback by heading an 80th-minute winner to secure a 3-2 victory over Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium. Will Hoskins shot Rovers into an eighth-minute lead and added a second two minutes later, rounding goalkeeper David Button after a dreadful error by Carl Fletcher. Bradley Wright-Phillips started Plymouth's comeback by turning to shoot home after 58 minutes and strike-partner Joe Mason capitalised on more poor defending to fire a 67th-minute equaliser from close range. Zubar was then allowed room to nod the winner from a free-kick to leave Rovers' caretaker boss Darren Patterson without a point from his first two games in charge. Plymouth hit a post through substitute Yannick Bolasie after 70 minutes and Rovers were also denied by the woodwork when Button clipped a low effort from substitute Jo Kuffour onto a post. Both sides had chances in an exciting climax but it was nearly 800 Argyle fans who were celebrating at the final whistle.
