Open door policy for Mariner

Head coach Mariner has been handed control of all footballing activities after Paul Sturrock was removed from his position on Thursday and handed a business support role.[LNB]Mariner told the club's official website: "My policy as a coach - everybody says 'My door is always open'; sometimes that's not strictly true - is that there is a dialogue to be had on a daily, or hourly, basis. That's the way to go."[LNB]But Mariner has no doubts over the ability of his side as they prepare for Saturday's trip to Preston.[LNB]He added: "There are a couple of things we have got to focus on and really concentrate on but the spirit of these lads, the resilience of these lads, the character of these lads, is quite remarkable.[LNB]"They have gone through a lot and are going through a lot, but they are as buoyant as I've seen them for a long, long time. They look as though they are ready to go."[LNB][LNB]
