The Eagles striker, making his debut after a free transfer move from Southampton, suffered a suspected dislocated elbow after falling awkwardly in a 31st-minute challenge with Argyle goalkeeper Romain Larrieu. John received five minutes of treatment on the field before being stretchered off and taken to a local hospital for x-rays. Palace will assess his condition tomorrow but the Trinidadian is expected to be ruled out for several weeks. Palace were already trailing after Kristzian Timar had struck from close range early on but they rediscovered their composure and deservedly levelled mid-way through the second half when Alan Lee headed in Victor Moses' cross. Warnock was thrilled by Palace's show of character, which was typified by lively displays from teenage trio Freddie Sears - signed on loan from West Ham -Moses and Alassane N'Diaye. "Stern's having an x-ray now but it looks like the elbow has dislocated, which is obviously unfortunate," Warnock said of the Trinidadian, who is expected to be ruled out for several weeks. "But that's the way football is, you have to get on with it. Considering what went on, I thought the players were terrific. We created 20 chances and we had to work very hard not to win the game." The Palace boss reserved special praise for Lee, whose career at Selhurst Park seemed to have come to an ugly end last season when he was loaned to Norwich. The Republic of Ireland international had been expected to move to Carrow Road permanently this summer but, in the wake of John's injury, will now be expected to lead the line at Selhurst Park. "He's worked hard," Warnock added. "Before the game, he was wishing the rest of the squad luck as he didn't really feel part of things. "One's thing is for sure, he's not going to Norwich now - I bet he's quite happy with that." Plymouth boss Paul Sturrock was disappointed his side had not built on Timar's fifth-minute goal - fired in on the angle direct from Luke Summerfield's corner - and confirmed he was still in the market for "two or three" new players before the transfer window closes at the end of the month. "We're not the finished article and there are two or three more to bring in and benefit the squad," he said. "I don't think we deserved to win the game, to be fair. "We ended up defending too deep and paid the price for it. But it's still early in the season and I am pleased with the attitude and the team spirit we have shown. That augurs well for the rest of the season."
