Honours even between Bulls and Pilgrims

Hereford and Plymouth shared the spoils in League Two's bottom-of-the-table clash after it ended 1-1 at Edgar Street.

An own goal from Hereford skipper Stefan Stam gifted Plymouth the lead in the first half but, after Simon Walton missed a penalty, Hereford levelled seven minutes after the restart when Tom Barkhuizen rifled home his 11th league goal of the season.

The Pilgrims took the lead in the 30th minute when Stam looped the ball into his own net under pressure from Warren Feeney.

Six minutes later Nick Chadwick missed a gilt-edged chance to put Plymouth in front when he shot wide of the empty Hereford goalmouth from 10 yards.

Plymouth captain Walton then missed an even better opportunity from the spot, shooting straight at the foot of a post after James Chambers had fouled Feeney in the area.

Hereford, however, rallied early in the second half and Barkhuizen rifled the ball past Jake Cole and into the roof of the net from eight yards for the equaliser.

Hereford then stepped up a gear, with Michael Townsend having an overhead kick saved by Cole, who also stopped a long-range drive from Will Evans, but it was not be as the encounter finished level.
