Brent nears Plymouth takeover

Only a handful of signatures stand between James Brent's Akkeron Group and a successful takeover at Plymouth.

After Plymouth City Council agreed to buy back Argyle's Home Park for £1.6million on Tuesday, businessman Brent - who is looking to save the Pilgrims from liquidation - needs those owed money by the club to sign up to his repayment plan so that he can seek formal ratification from the Football League.

Brent told BBC Radio Devon that the vast majority of individual creditors have either signed or agreed to sign the relevant documents, but added: "We need everyone's agreement to save the club. I'm deeply superstitious and I'm not in control of everyone's pens."

He added: "We have a couple of hundred people who need to sign their agreements, we have the majority of those agreements already signed.

"We have indications from the majority of the balance that they will sign but we need 100% of all those signatures so it would be rash of me to put a percentage chance on other people signing documents."
