Boss hails character

Plymouth boss Peter Reid paid tribute to his players` character after they ended a four-match losing streak with a 2-1 home win over Dagenham. Gavin Tomlin volleyed the Daggers into a ninth-minute lead with a superb finish from Medy Elito's sweeping cross from the right, but home skipper Craig Noone levelled following a mazy 62nd-minute run before Rory Patterson sealed victory seven minutes from time. "I said to the players it's all about character and I thought we played some good stuff in the first half," said Reid. "I thought we got into some really good areas and I thought the final ball, especially in the wide areas, I personally counted we hit the front man eight times. "At half-time I just impressed on them about sticking together, showing a bit of character, and the two goals we got came from good football, taking care of the ball. "We showed good ability on both goals and it's got us a victory. We had to defend some dead balls which we did well and we had chances, they had chances. There was some desperate defending by them on some occasions but I thought the winner was a really good goal."
