Boss demands more from Argyle

Peter Reid insists Plymouth must improve against Southampton on Monday if they are to have any chance of preserving their League One status. The Argyle manager saw his side lose the Devon derby 1-0 to Exeter after James Dunne scored his first goal of the season at the start of the second half. Plymouth remain second from bottom of the table and play their game in hand when promotion-chasing Saints visit Home Park. "We didn't compete in the first half and that's what disappointed me most. But after they scored, at least we showed a certain resilience," said Reid. "From their point of view, it is a good goal. But it is a bad goal from our point of view. "We will see how the results go but we certainly have to play better than that against Southampton, certainly better than we did in the first half. It wasn't good enough. We have to play two very good sides now at home, but we have done well against good teams before and we just have to keep going. "I'm just disappointed for the supporters. You can't afford to give the ball away at any level, especially against a good passing side like Exeter. It's criminal. Possibly the pressure got to them, but we needed to pass the ball around and we didn't."
