Belgium door still ajar for Mpenza

The 30-year-old, who has scored 17 goals in 54 games for Belgium, was left out of the squad to face Slovenia on Wednesday because of a lack of football.[LNB]Mpenza has been dogged by injury since joining Plymouth Argyle in the English second tier in September and has started only three matches.[LNB]The former Standard Liege, Schalke and Manchester City player has not represented his country since June 2007, but Vandereycken is keeping the door "ajar".[LNB]He told Het Nieuwsblad: "He was in the pre-selection but he didn't get enough time to play since then.[LNB]"We watched him twice, but there wasn't a lot to see. Emile has qualities to be an international, but he simply did not play enough to be in the squad.[LNB]"He is not definitively out of the team. We have always left the door ajar."[LNB][LNB][LNB]
