Pilgrims climb out of bottom two

Nick Chadwick fired Plymouth out of the League Two relegation zone by netting the winner in a 2-1 triumph at AFC Wimbledon.

Onismor Bhasera put Argyle ahead after just 11 seconds and, after Jack Midson struck back for Dons just before half-time, Chadwick lashed in the 49th-minute decider.

Plymouth got off to the dream start when, straight from kick-off, Durrell Berry's delivery was guided in by Bhasera's pin-point header.

With Wimbledon rattled, the visitors nearly added a second six minutes later but Chadwick failed to convert Paul Wotton's free-kick from six yards.

The Dons responded but Jason Euell's shot was deflected wide and Sammy Moore's powerful header cleared Jake Cole's crossbar.

But their persistence paid off after 41 minutes when Midson glanced Moore's cross goalwards and Darren Purse's clearance was deemed to be behind the line.

Plymouth started the second half in similar vein to the first as Chadwick combined with Bhasera and drilled past Seb Brown, before Luke Young rattled the crossbar.

Substitute Billy Knott fired across goal and Midson shot wide as Wimbledon searched for a leveller but Plymouth held on to climb towards Football League safety.
