McLaren poised for Peterhead bow

Peterhead boss Jim McInally will cast his eye over Fraser McLaren when they play host to Annan.

The former Berwick winger will line up as a trialist ahead of a possible move to the Blue Toon and could be joined by fit-again Scott Ross.

Ryan Strachan definitely misses out through suspension while Callum MacDonald (knee) is doubtful.

McInally said: "Annan are a big, strong side who work very hard for each other so we need to match that workrate first and foremost if we are to win the game.

Annan have Peter Watson available for the long trip north.

Watson was dismissed in last weekend's Scottish League Cup tie with Queen of the South but the ban only applies to that competition.

Manager Jim Chapman is a defender light though as Steven Swinglehurst misses out with a hip problem.

Chapman said: "Peterhead look to have the strongest squad in the division and will be the side to beat in my opinion. Our performance will give us a benchmark of where we are in terms of challenging."
