Stranraer end losing run with draw at Peterhead

Stranraer ended their four-game losing run in Ladbrokes League One with a 1-1 draw away at Peterhead.

Craig Malcolm had given Stranraer an early lead from the spot but Rory McAllister equalised just before half-time to deny the visitors all three points.

Malcolm neatly struck his penalty into the bottom right corner after Luciano Nequecaur had been fouled by Jass Sukar on 13 minutes.

Ryan Thomson then saw a header narrowly fly over the bar as the struggling Blues went in search of a second five minutes later.

McAllister's free-kick, which was narrowly wide on 36 minutes, served a warning to Stranraer and the Peterhead striker duly equalised moments before the break with another well-taken set-piece.

Stranraer, who last won in the league on October 3, almost retook the lead on 53 minutes but Scott Rumsby headed wide from close range.

Peterhead also came close to snatching the win in the second half, which was beset by floodlight issues, but Kevin Dzierzawski and McAllister saw efforts go just wide.
