    Posh snare hit-man

    30 Jan 2009 - 14:55:04

Peterborough United have signed non-league striker Ben Wright from Hampton & Richmond.

The Posh have agreed a three-and-a-half year contract with Wright, after agreeing a fee in excess of £40,000.

Wright was originally set for a dream move to the Premier League with Fulham, but the deal fell through after the 20-year-old failed a medical.

Wright has netted 13 times so far this season and is rated extremely highly in Blue Square South, having also attracted interest from Championship high-fliers Reading.

Manager Darren Ferguson told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph: "This signing follows the criteria that we have at the football club about bringing in young, hungry players.

"He is one that has been on the radar for a little while. We have watched him closely and believe he will bring something different."

Wright will travel with Ferguson's squad for the weekend game with Huddersfield Town.
