Posh snare Blues youngster
21 Jul 2009 - 12:23:59
Peterborough United have completed the loan signing of Birmingham City defenderKrystian Pearce.
The 19-year-old has agreed a one-year loan deal with the newly-promoted Championship club where he will provide cover at centre-half.
Craig Morgan and Gabriel Zakuani are set to begin the season as the first-choice defensive partnership at London Road, but manager Darren Ferguson hopes Pearce can provide competition for places at the back.
"He has good mobility and good pace, is young and wants to learn," Ferguson told the BBC.
"He's quick and powerful and, in my opinion, is a very good signing for the club."
Pearce is not short of first-team experience after enjoying loan spells at Notts County, Port Vale and Scunthorpe United.
Ferguson also claims that he will not be making any more signings this summer after missing out on West Ham United striker Freddie Sears.
"I'm happy with what I've got," he added. "I think a lot of people were expecting me to sign a striker.
"We did go for Freddy Sears which would have been a great addition but I'm not going to sign anyone for the sake of it, it's hard getting good strikers."
