Posh fight delights Ferguson

12 Mar 2008 - 14:04:05

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson hailed his side's fighting spirit, after they secured a 2-1 win at Brentford to go back to the top of the League Two table.

The Posh won out at Griffin Park thanks to goals from Aaron McLean and Craig Mackail-Smith, but had to withstand a late Bees onslaught to secure a crucial victory.

Ferguson told his club's official website: "We weren't at our best, but at this stage of the season it is about results and not performances and I am pleased with the win.

"There were some good displays and we dug in and defended very well and I would describe the performance as resilient.

"I thought at 2-0 the game might be over and I fancied us to go on and score more goals, but give credit to Brentford, they were tremendous and gave it a right good go.

"They passed the ball well and it was quite nerve-wracking in the last 15 minutes."
