Peterborough United fear that striker Simon Yeo may miss almost the whole of the season after suffering a fractured cheekbone in the 1-0 defeat at home to Bury.
Yeo, 32, had only joined the Posh in the summer from Lincoln City, but is now poised for a lengthy spell out of action after a collision with Shakers keeper Kasper Schmeichel.
Posh chairman Barry Fry told the club's official website: "Simon will definitely be out for several months, but we have been warned that he might not play again this season.
"He has had several operations, one involving the eye socket and the other involving the cheekbone. It was a very complicated procedure."
Yeo had scored twice in seven outings for the London Road club.
