Posh clinch Charnock coup

Peterborough United have continued their policy of looking outside the Football League for new players by signing Kieran Charnock from Northwich Victoria on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The former Wigan Athletic trainee, had made more than 100 appearances for the Vics in his four years with the Conference side.

He told the Posh's official club website: "I'd just come back from holiday and it was a matter of hours before Northwich told me that an offer had come in.

"I'm delighted to have signed."

Since the turn of the year, Posh have signed George Boyd from Stevenage Borough and Dagenham & Redbridge duo Shane Blackett and Craig Mackail-Smith.

Woking goalkeeper Shwan Jalal and striker Aaron McLean from Grays Athletic were also signed in January, while Kettering Town's Rene Howe was snapped up last week.
