Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has admitted he is desperately short of defensive options ahead of Saturday's trip to Walsall.
The Posh are anxiously awaiting news of the fitness of Chris Westwood with Craig Morgan and Gabby Zakuani both away on international duty.
Ferguson's predicament could lead to him recalling Kieran Charnock, who has been out of favour since the opening weekend of the season.
Fellow defender Shane Blackett remains absent after dislocating his shoulder last month.
"Westwood went for a jog on Sunday and felt his calf," revealed Ferguson.
"(Midfielder) Charlie Lee will play there (in defence) on Saturday, but we're hoping Westwood will be fit as well."
