Peterborough shade nine-goal thriller
16 Oct 2010 - 17:19:38
The game of the day in League One undoubtedly came at London Road where Peterborough United were the victors in a nine-goal thriller against Swindon Town.
Posh raced in to a 3-0 lead after only 22 minutes, before Swindon levelled the game at 3-3 by half-time.
Swindon then fell behind again, only to equalise through hot-shot Charlie Austin with 17 minutes remaining.
However, a last-minute own goal by Kevin Amankwaah sealed a great victory for the home team.
Brighton continued their fantastic start to the season with an impressive 4-0 away win at Charlton Athletic, while Brentford enjoyed a 3-0 victory at Tranmere Athletic.
Both Bournemouth and Bristol Rovers enjoyed home wins over Milton Keynes Dons and Rochdale respectively, while Richard Logan hit a brace for Exeter City in their 2-1 home win over high-flying Carlisle United at St James' Park.
Peter Reid and Plymouth suffered another defeat in League One as they went 2-0 down to Notts County away from home.
Another team to lose 2-0 were Yeovil Town, who were defeated by Sheffield Wednesday with Jermaine Johnson and Tommy Miller netting for the Owls.
Huddersfield defeated the in-form Southampton 2-0 at home thanks to goals from Anthony Pilkington and Joey Gudjonsson, while Leyton Orient sealed a 1-0 home win against Hartlepool United following a Johnathan Tehoue goal in the 89th minute.
There were just two draws in League One on Saturday as Dagenham and Redbridge shared the points with Walsall in a 1-1 draw and neither Oldham nor Colchester could find the net in their stalemate at Boundary Park.
