New deal delights Newton
24 Jan 2007 - 15:02:58
Peterborough United midfielder Adam Newton has agreed a new contract that will keep him at London Road until the end of the 2008-09 campaign.
The 26-year-old, who would have been out of contract in the summer, has made almost 200 appearances for The Posh since his transfer from West Ham United in May 2002.
He expects the club to start rising up the table soon, telling United's official website: "It was an easy decision to make because the club is very progressive and there's going to be an exciting future and I want to be a part of it.
"The new management team have come in and the training has been good. I'm delighted to be here.
"I was a bit in limbo, but I've kept my head down and played football and now everything has been sorted out.
"The new chairman has shown a lot of ambition and it feels like a new club already. It feels a good time to be around Peterborough United."
