McLean requests January move

Striker Aaron McLean looks set to move away from Championship strugglers Peterborough in January after his written transfer request was accepted by the United board.

The 26-year-old was tipped to leave London Road anyway when the transfer window opens, along with fellow forward George Boyd, after both players impressed for Posh despite disappointing results for the team.

When McLean was dropped for the clash with Newcastle in November he was clearly angry and ready to move on, as he explained to the official club website.

"I did not hand in a request at the time as the chairman asked me to back him but I can't get over the way I was treated," the former Grays man said, adding: "I was made club captain and dropped for the biggest game of my career.

"Now feel these factors, my age and my family commitments make it the right time to move clubs."
