Mackail-Smith boost for Posh
21 Jul 2009 - 15:51:09
Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has received the welcomed news that striker Craig Mackail-Smith will be fit ahead of the new season.
A groin injury threatened to keep Mackail-Smith out of action ahead of the new season.
But a scan at Manchester United's training ground delivered good news and the player is set to resume pre-season.
"We were worried that Craig would miss the start of the season, but his scan was clear," said Ferguson.
"It's now just a case of him trying different exercises and just getting on with the job of getting fit.
"Ironically he reported ill on Monday, but he should be ready to start training in a couple of days which is great news.
"Aaron Mclean has also been very poorly, but he trained and should play some part against Tottenham."
