Gannon faces up to reality

Peterborough United boss Jim Gannon praised his players despite falling to a 2-0 loss at Championship high-flyers Cardiff City on Tuesday evening.

However, he is fully aware that the club are in a very difficult position. Posh are a massive 12 points from safety and prop up the table.

With just 16 games remaining, Gannon believes they need to pick up 30 points to have any chance of preserving their status after winning promotion from League One last term.

Speaking to reporters, he said: "We have to face the brutal reality of being in a very difficult position.

"There were things in this game that pleased me and other things that didn't. We looked solid at the back again and the two holding midfielders were fantastic.

"We had lots of possession, but we didn't do enough with it. There was a big difference in the quality of the forward play."
