Fry happy with financial gain
With bids already agreed for Liam Hatch, Scott Rendell and Alfie Potter and teams chasing Rene Howe, Shane Blackett and Chris Westwood, Fry is sure of a positive return in the transfer market. "There is a lot of interest in the available players and I'm more than confident we can get more in for them than we paid," he told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph. "We have agreed a £175,000 fee for Hatch with a sell-on for a start, and two clubs are willing to pay good money for Rendell. We have also accepted a £25,000 bid for Potter, while there have been substantial bids for Howe and Blackett and I'm currently negotiating deals for Charnock and Tyler. "I'm certainly encouraged by the interest and hopefully we will be able to tie up some transfers soon. And don't forget we have received fees for some of the players who were out on loan last season." Chairman Darragh MacAnthony praised his director of football, saying: "Barry Fry is the best in the business at what he does for the club. When you see what some clubs have been paying players who have then been offered to us on 60% lower wages, it makes you appreciate having such a fantastic director of football."
