Ferguson: No Posh panic

15 Apr 2008 - 07:21:14

Manager Darren Ferguson insists Peterborough United will not blow their chance despite failing to clinch promotion from League Two at the weekend.

Posh's home defeat to Stockport County on Saturday left the automatic promotion champagne on ice, but Ferguson believes the club won't have to wait long to seal their passage into League One.

The result also saw Posh fail to break a club record of 17 consecutive league games without defeat.

Ferguson told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph: "It was a disappointing result and performance because we really wanted to go up in front of our own fans and we wanted to break a 47 year-old club record.

"It was a frustrating day for sure, but it's very much in our own hands and we just have to be ready for the next game.

"The dressing room was very down as you could imagine after the game on Saturday, but I have no doubts that we will bounce back.

"We've had a great run of results and there is no reason to believe that we won't get the points we require from the last three matches."
