Fergie hails ruthless Posh
26 Nov 2007 - 11:19:58
Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson hailed his side's performance after they "pulverised" Brentford in Saturday's 7-0 victory.
The Posh made hay at London Road after their weekend opponents had goalkeeper Simon Brown sent off inside the first minute.
Top-scorer Aaron McLean claimed a first-half hat-trick as the home side romped to victory to keep in touch with the rest of the League Two leaders.
"No disrespect to Brentford but we absolutely pulverised them," said Ferguson.
"The lads were brilliant in training during the week and I had a feeling something special was going to happen, that's why I only made a couple of changes despite the fact we were very poor at Bury last weekend.
"We were absolutely sensational and it was a great way to send out a statement.
"This result really shows the rest of League Two what we're capable of doing and I couldn't fault the lads in any way."
