Boyd: I've got nothing to prove

Peterborough forward George Boyd is relishing this weekend's pre-season friendly against Nottingham Forest but insists he has nothing to prove to the Championship club.Boyd's time at London Road appeared to be numbered when he was sent out on loan to Forest towards the end of last season, and he had previously been quoted as saying he wanted a permanent move to the City Ground. But the 24-year-old decided to pledge his future to Posh by signing a new contract earlier this month and he told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph: "I did my best at Forest and I definitely improved as a player."It was a great experience at a big club, but I didn't do enough to hold a place down in the side. I played well in my first game there, but they had a good squad and the manager eventually turned to the players who had got them into such a good position in the league in the first place."He added: "I'm looking forward to seeing the Forest lads again as they are a good bunch and I am sure they will have a great chance of promotion this season. But I don't feel that I have anything to prove."I feel that over the whole season I showed that I could play at Championship level and hopefully I'll be back there soon enough with Posh."
