The 22-year-old took part in the first few days of pre-season, but struggled and has consequently been booked in for surgery immediately. He is not expected to be fit for the opening fixture against Derby on August 8 due to a minimum four-week recuperation period. Manager Darren Ferguson told the Peterborough Evening News: "We knew Chris had a problem at the end of last season, but we were told rest would cure it. "That's not the case so he will now struggle to be ready for the opening game. It's a big shame for the lad, but we have options on the right side including Sergio Torres, George Boyd and Tommy Rowe."
