Whelpdale boost for Posh boss

Whelpdale had a hernia operation in the summer which has sidelined him for the first seven games of the season but he scored in a reserve win over Northampton in midweek and is available for selection. Fellow midfielder Dean Keates is a doubt, however, as he picked up a knock in training. Central defender Craig Morgan was away with Wales in the week but is fit, as are goalkeeper James McKeown (Ireland Under-21s) and midfielder Paul Coutts (Scotland Under-21s). Left-back Jamie Day and striker Ben Wright (both ankle) also featured in the reserve win at Sixfields but are unlikely to feature as Ferguson searches for a first league win of the season.
