Hull manager Nigel Pearson confirmed the club were in "advanced talks" with Peterborough striker Aaron Mclean after seeing his side snatch all three points in a 3-2 win at Sheffield United on Boxing Day.
Posh gave the Championship side permission to speak to their top scorer last week and the Tigers are also close to signing Matty Fryatt from Leicester.
Pearson said: "We're in advanced stages in talks with Aaron Mclean and Matty Fryatt now. We've put a run together so we are seeing some progress now. I think the signs are promising."
