He also confirmed that Rendell will be available for the Blue Square Premier play-offs should the U's finish in the top five. "The Conference have a ruling which states that should a club reach the play-offs the registration will extend automatically," he said. "So hopefully Rendell will still be here on the 17th May, walking out at Wembley." Director George Rolls had warned U's fans not to expect much transfer activity in the January window, but with boss Gary Brabin pleading for more resources following Wednesday's 5-0 FA Trophy defeat to Crawley, the situation appears to have changed. Nevertheless, following the arrival of Rendell and Daryl McMahon - on a free transfer from Stevenage - Purser says he does not expect any more new signings before the end of the season. "To get any more players in than Scott and Daryl would be a big surprise," he said. Rendell has been registered in time to return to action with the U's at Wrexham on Thursday.
