Posh handed Mackail-Smith boost
Mackail-Smith, who scored 26 goals last season, was sent for a scan at Manchester United's training ground last week in a bid to sort out his problem once and for all and manager Darren Ferguson is now confident of having his strike force intact.
Ferguson said: "We were worried that Craig would miss the start of the season, but his scan was clear. It's now just a case of him trying different exercises and just getting on with the job of getting fit.
"Ironically he reported ill on Monday, but he should be ready to start training in a couple of days which is great news.
"Aaron Mclean has also been very poorly, but he trained and should play some part against Tottenham."
