Posh boss rues trio's absence

Their goals have been crucial to Posh's climb from League Two in recent years but Gannon was left with just Liam Dickinson as a lone striker at the Liberty Stadium.

He said: "It was an extremely difficult week leading up to the game.

"It was bad enough losing Ryan Bennett and Josh Simpson to injury but then Boyd, Mackail-Smith and Mclean all rang in sick late in the week.

"The lack of the depth in the squad was laid bare and the difference in the technical quality between the sides as a result was decisive."
