Posh boss defends keeper Lewis

With Posh already 2-1 down, their hopes of rescuing a point were dashed when Lewis contrived to spill a 69th-minute Shaun MacDonald shot into his own net.

Ferguson admitted any hope of a positive result disappeared with the error, but he refused to blast his number one despite a series of costly mistakes since the turn of the year.

He said: "Everyone was raving about Joe last season and there is no doubt he is a quality keeper - he just has to work through this spell.

"I can't fault the effort from any of the lads, but we've got to stop giving away bad goals."
