Jeffers set for bench duty

New signing Shaun Jeffers could be on the bench for Peterborough when Shrewsbury visit London Road.

Jeffers signed an eight-month contract with Posh on Wednesday after a successful two-week trial. The 21-year-old striker has not made a Football League appearance since coming on as a late substitute in a League Two game while on loan at Cheltenham in May 2011.

Kgosi Ntlhe will return to the squad after the full-back missed the win at Port Vale while away on international duty with South Africa.

Lee Tomlin is making progress in his recovery from an ankle injury and the forward has an outside chance of being included in the squad when Darren Ferguson's team play Sheffield United on Tuesday night.

Luke Summerfield will again sit out as Shrewsbury make the tough trip.

The midfielder missed last weekend's 2-0 victory over Gillingham due to a groin problem which is set to keep him in the treatment room for a couple of weeks.

Otherwise, manager Graham Turner boasts a fully-fit squad with midfielder Paul Parry having shrugged off an ankle injury which forced him off late on against Gills.

Loanee Liam McAlinden is pushing to start in attack at London Road having scored on his debut last weekend within seven minutes of entering the fray as a second-half substitute.
